Apologies for the crosspost from Meetup -

We haven't gotten together in a long time, so let's try something different.

A lot of civic tech groups have a regular "hack night" where folks just get together and work on projects, or even just hang out. Low stakes, no pressure, no organized speakers, just a chance to show off what you're working on, or find a group of people and join them in their project, or just see what's going on.

Let's give that a try for a bit and see how it goes. We'll be at Pinney Library on Cottage Grove Road from 6pm to 8pm on Thurs March 27th in Community Room B.

This is a hybrid event, but Meetup sucks and even though we're on the paid plan it doesn't let you specify a hybrid event without even more of an upsell, so here's the Zoom info. Pinney has a Zoom Room setup so we should be able to have good interactions between folks in the room and folks who are remote.

I have no idea how this is going to go, and worst case if I'm alone in Pinney library for two hours there are worse ways to spend a Thursday night!

I hope to see you somehow on Thursday the 27th!

ps there's been some talk over the years of changing the name away from Hacking Madison, since the 'Hacking' bit can be confusing to outside folks. I think people were leaning towards 'Code for Madison', but then Code for America shut down its Brigade program and got stingy about using its trademark, so all of the other Code for <CITY> groups have changed their names, so it's back to the drawing board.

Thanks, Erik.

I'm traveling next week but am going to try to make it. If there's interest, I can provide a quick update on transit related stuff. I built something new over the weekend in support of the new Metro API.

Cheers.

Greg
