Dogs are like Windows, requires a lot of attention. Cats are like Linux, low maintenance.

based on a statistically significant sample of xkcd, theoatmeal, reddit, and myself, I'd say cat people.

when you call a dog, it comes running and look at you with expecting

eyes.
when you call a cat, it takes a message and gets back to you later...

I went to boarding school around this time, so was only home on the
holidays. Pretty much suffered through it until I discovered cortisone
years later.

Yep. You can try. Take your forearm, and shove it sideways into the
biggest dog you have on hands' mouth. Push all the way to the back
where the bonecrunching molars are. No harm shall come to you,
although this is only recommended if you have thick skin and don't
mind smelling like dog drool :)

Yes, I gravitate towards dogs. I like to play rough, cats play
nice(although an accidental scratch can itch like a mofo)

Cheers

I liked both, and we had both at home right until I hit puberty and suddenly became allergic (vicious hayfever) to cat & doghair.

However, if you give me a friendly dog, I will soon have that beast jumping an growling and mock-fighting. I'm an awesome sparring partner for dogs, as my many tooth-shaped scars on my forearms, and one in my love-handle (don't ask) can attest to.

Cheers

I prefer dogs. Cats are like rock star programmers who think that you feed them because they themselves are calling the shots. Dogs are like the good programmers who think that you feed them, so you are the one calling the shots

I've had both in the same flat. As long as they are introduced young
(less than 6 months) and the cat gets in first, they get along and
keep each other company.

If cats are rock stars and dogs are an owner's biggest fan, does that
make a perfect dependent relationship???
