Hi All,

A new, super fast, snazzy redesign of Yahoo! Mail is coming out soon
soon soon (like next week soon).

Any SG bloggers out there want to write an article about it? You would
have to find some nice things to say but can also say other stuff as
well. Basically we want original and authentic grassroots voice
covering the launch.

The article would appear on Yahoo's Fit To Post blog. http://sg.yfittopostblog.com/
with your byline and bio and links back to your own blog. So you get
fame, blog traffic, and we will also pay you for your efforts and
proofread your work to make sure it sparkles!

If you or your blogging pals are interested, please email me
souweine[at]yahoo-inc[dot]com and we can take it from there.

Thanks,
Isaac

"You would have to find some nice things to say"?

and you want "original and authentic grassroots voice"? ;)

Hi Coleman,

Yahoo Mail has about 280 million users worldwide. It is the most
popular email by far in the US, arguably the world's most discerning
tech market in the world. And it is also by far and away the dominant
email address for people in Southeast Asia (though not for the record
in Singapore).

So, presumably there are quite a few authentic and grassroots voices
who would have nice things to say about the product. And we are simply
looking for one of those voices.

Hope that clarifies.

Cheers,
Isaac

I couldn't help but notice that Isaac is advocating Yahoo! mail via
Gmail. No harm intended! ;)

Adding Facebook status import is not an improvement in my books. i'm
really tired of facebook everywhere. Please not in my inbox as well.
If i want facebook i go to facebook, i want a pure email webclient.
thats what gmail does right besides they fail with buzz.
should be a clear signal what customers want and don't want in their
email service.

why not, you can use filters for that?
i like everything in my email, have the greatest power to filter, sort,
mark, delete, in an environment where i am in control, not where
facebook is in control of what i get to look at.

if i'd use facebook,, that's what i'd like...

yeah thats already possible. but another "whats new" button. you could
as well just iframe fb.com there. whats the point? it doesn't hurt but
it's hardly an innovation.

@brainopera's comment: "Like" (facebook-style)

Anyway, I'm curious about what yahoo mail can do so I signed up. The first big disappointment is that I can't forward my mails unless I upgrade to "Mail Plus"... boo hoo...

Thanks everyone for the feedback about Yahoo Mail. It's really
useful.

And just to square the record on a couple of other points:

1, my hackerspace group membership predates my Yahoo gig, so that's
why its a gmail address. That and hackerspace is a google group so the
integration with gmail is better.
2. and also gmail is a great product. No question there.

Thanks again for engaging and for those people who expressed interest
in writing about the release. .

Cheers,
Isaac

Y! Mail also has its plus points and the moreso with the new release.
