check out sugar at
sugarlabs.org a linux distribution developbed for the
OLPC project targeting primary school.
they have lots of activities at
activities.sugarlabs.org
if you are specifically looking for programming stuff, try turtle
graphics (many different implementations available), scratch and
etoys. they are available seperately but also also included in sugar.
my favourite is etoys because it allows transition into real programming
in smalltalk at any point (whenever he is ready for that :-)
