Movie Night

Hey everyone,

This Tuesday at 7pm, we will be screening `Black Cat White Cat', a
movie directed by Serbian director Emir Kusturica.

I've also felt like watching several other movies, such as the
vengeance trilogy (`Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance', `Old Boy', `Sympathy
for Lady Vengeance'), and other people have expressed interest in
other movies. It would be fun to make this a semi-regular (semi-
because I have little free time and don't want to be the only
organizer) event.

Hi guys,

Sorry for hijacking the thread, but I have a question regarding copyright issues and the screening of movies in the public. 

Would we be infringing on any copyright if we were to screen movies (like this for example) to a mass audience?

i don't know about singapore, but as comparison, in germany permission
(or payment) is required for screening to any kind of public, where
public is defined as anyone who is not family or personal friends.

that is, even a screening in something like a hackerspace, even to
members only would be considered a public performance.
