Looking for statistics on most popular model of Android mobile phone platforms

Does anyone know how/where I can find out the statistics on what are the most popular models of Android smartphones( Is it samsung galaxy etc) in asia pacific?

i had a similar question a month ago.
which gps capable non-android phone brands are the most popular in
china nowadays.
i could derive some helpful conclusions from some stats published in
some random article on the web, but i found anomalies in it, so i
don't trust it really.

so how such questions can be answered?

i have 2 instant ideas:

1, http://www.wolframalpha.com/ should know it ;)

2, crowd source data collection

assumption: ppl like to talk about their new gadgets, including phones
the really passionate ones blog about it.
some just tweet.
some just IM to closest friends and recommend it, etc.

What IF we would have some site to report this fact.

what can we provide to the individual?
latest info about the phone, like firmware updates.
price is kind of obvious.
what if we ask permission to remember the geo location?
later ppl can just toggle their entries in to "i want to sell" state.
