Please understand that HSG is a shared space and by not undoing your edits, you
may be depriving someone else of a comfortable, neat and clean working space. I
have bought some cleaners of various applications so feel free to put them to
good use.
I had also noticed that our utilisation of toilet paper has seemed to increase
quite a bit. I swore that on Thursday there were at least 4 rolls of toilet
paper. But I came into the space and there was no more toilet paper left. While
I concede that toilet paper is not very costly, I do urge our members and
visitors to avoid wastage. I honestly do not see enough human traffic to warrant
such high utilisation of toilet paper. Oh wait maybe someone has bought cats to
HSG http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zQbHS4YJOMc
Can someone create a diagram on how to unlock/lock the toilet door? I have 1
case of someone being locked inside the toilet, and 1 of someone being unable to
close the door as she was unable to unlocked the door (yes erm it is
complicated)
Lastly, please make some effort to post to the list if any of our cleaning
supplies runs out.... eg toilet paper, detergent, dishwashing tablets. Surely we
don't need labels for such reminders.
The last thing we want to do is to create a logging system for the use of toilet
paper.
that one is not responsible, it was those:

Leaving food unattended overnight on a table in the lab is absolutely
unacceptable.
Leaving your cooking mess on a table in the lab on the table overnight that
could be used as someone's workspace is unacceptable.
Preparing food in the lab and leaving behind crumbs of food behind on the carpet
is unacceptable. Personally, I do most of my food preparation at the dishwasher
area.
Whoever's responsible please undo your edits. I am not the only one who is not
humoured by such inconsiderate acts. If anyone has issues with these points, I
am happy to hear you out.
Additionally:
- Wipe the top of all banisters
- Wipe the front and clean the top of the fridge, wipe down inside
surfaces
- Clean windows and front door (maybe not until the frosting is installed
and leftover glue removed)
- Wipe the exposed surfaces of cupboards in the lab and in the pantry
- Wash the sink in the pantry area
- Wipe the exposed surfaces of shelves at the back of the zone
Do we need to buy some cleaning stuff for her?
Kim Yong has also offered to do a once-weekly clean out of the fridge of
expired items - if you leave your personal food there please be aware that
it may be cleaned out if it's expired or left for too long. As in any
office pantry a good rule of thumb would be to expect that anything left
overnight may not be there the next day.
cleaning windows should be limited to areas that don't contain any
writing i guess...
it doesn't actually take that long ... it took me about 19 minutes to
put away the excess chairs
trash the wine bottles
trash the newspapers
take out the trash
reset the trash with a fresh bag
move excess chairs and table up from downstairs
refill the water in the fridge
reset the wine and water glasses at the bar
unload the dishwasher
reload the dishwasher
start the dishwasher on delay timer
flush the toilet
wipe clean the bar table and the lab tables
clear most tables of debris
reset the cloth towels, taking soiled ones home to wash
turn off all the ceiling lights
leave all the little desk lamps on (it's okay, they're 7 watts each)
call a taxi
turn off all the aircons
if i had more time i would've scrubbed the sinks and sanitized the pantry, toilet, and bar areas with an aerosolized dilute solution of 75ppm sodium hypochlorite, which is what i used to do when i lived alone, but the taxi showed up.
if the last (sober) people to leave can follow that routine then i think a weekly pro cleaning of the toilet will round things off nicely. of course it's pretty easy for me to do this because i have a mental template for how the place is supposed to look, and all i do is go around and revert deltas. but i understand that most people in this country grow up with ubiquitous maid support so a lot of housekeeping skillz are a bit of a blind spot for the average Singaporean. for folks in that category i will recommend http://www.amazon.com/Home-Comforts-Science-Keeping-House/dp/068481465X as a useful life-skills guide. when you reach a certain stage in life, that book gets you laid.

Point taken. My point was more about cleaning up after one's self in a shared
space. Glorious details today include left over french loafs, oily induction
cooker and a slimy table. I don't expect regimental army standards.... but if
you like to make a dirty mess, do it elsewhere or clean up after yourself.
Oh and please close the window at the dishwasher area. It was left open for a
very long time. I had seen rats climbing outside. If anyone wants them as pets
please do so outside of HSG.
