Thanks to the community's effort Hong Kong's first coworking space,
BootHK, will become a reality in the coming month.
While forming the BootHK community some people have expressed interest
in a community space which is more social and maker oriented in
nature. Whether this space will or will not be part of the BootHK
effort is not important. What is important is to capture each
interested member's ideal of this hackerspace, and to distill the
common denominator from the opinions. This core set of requirements
will then be the used as the defining charter of the first hackerspace
community.
We will start this discovery process with a focus group. Julian Lee
will be hosting this focus group meetup at his office in Wanchai North
on Aug 18th (Wed) at 9pm next week. Details will be followed up
separately. He has also put together some questions for participants
to think about before attending this focus group.

Please tell us whether you plan to attend or not. If you are not able
to participate in person we'd still want to hear from you. Please take
the document above as guideline and convey to us what you think your
hackerspace should feel and look like, and post your opinion on this
discussion board before the meeting.
I will be posting this in duplicate on the
meetup.com group as well.
Please don't hesitate to forward this to people you know who are
interested. More importantly, please tell ask them to join this group.
The hackerspace is a community space, and it is important that we make
this a community effort in shaping it.
See you next week.
