Todays geohash is near the  railyards near the weir in the city. Get there if you can.
(If I had checked earlier I could have grabbed a photo from the train as it went past.)

Finnaly some decent geocaching in SA. Originally when I was looking into it locally it was pretty lame, businesses effectively using it as a means of marketing.
Unfortunately I don't really have time these days but great to know it is actually becoming something here. :D

IMHO the best geocache: http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?guid=611d0635-a1cf-41bc-a0cc-a6038ae288d5

geo-CACH-ing != geo-HASH-ing

Indeed: "The generated coordinates are used as destinations for adventures, à la Geocaching, or for local meetups." :p

Not near Mt Barker, but in the sea next to Adelaide.. 1 degree of
latitude by 1 degree of longitude is a little bit too large to do by
bicycle after work.

One day I'll go read how the date to lat/long hash works. Maybe there
needs to be a SA geo-hashing twitter feed or summat. When it finds a
practical location it tweets/emails about it.

Hi Kim,

The algorithm is here.. http://www.xkcd.com/426/
Also uses most recent DOW opening value, but I'm not sure when that change happens for us.
Either way, it's unpredictable, except on the day ;-)

There is an Android App.

We should print/laser etch some geocache tags and I'll drop them off in some places that no one ever goes in our recreation/national parks

Which also means we get twice the chance of it being somewhere useful- if it's in the bottom of the grid square, we take the north square, and if it's in the top of the square, we take the south square.
