Has anyone tried this software? http://reconstructme.net/ (free for non-commercial use)

From their website:
"ReconstructMe is an easy to use real-time 3d reconstruction system. Grab your camera and move around freely – ReMe takes care of modelling your world"

This has been on my list of things to try/play with for a while but haven't had time to do so.
I have an MS Kinect at home gathering dust if anyone wants to have a play at a hack session. I'm happy to bring it in. Let me know. I tend to only be able to make it to wednesday night sessions.

Jon and I had a quick go last hack session with the Hackerspace
Kinect.
Unfortunately running it on Windows 7 through Parallels didn't give
good enough performance for realtime scanning.

Joel also send me a model he tried of himself.. but it has holes in
the top of his head, under his chin and behind his ears that I haven't
worked out how to fix in Meshlab.

There's also http://www.123dapp.com/catch for iOS/PC/Web that does a
pretty good job from photos.

Jon and I are trying to get a good workflow from scanning to printing
PEZ heads for the format festival http://format.net.au

Let me know if you find a nice way to do it quickly.

Have a look at the Hackerspace facbook page. i posted a few models i captured with ReMe a while ago.

got it working on win 7 no problems what so ever. ill bring my setup next hack session as well.

Also have a look at Skanect (i think its called that) designed for scanning rooms at a time and does it in color. i can bring that also to have a play with.

Nice one!
Can you upload that file somewhere so I can see if it'll print?
