Adelaide Call for
Action
|
|
Over the last
few months, Makerspace
Adelaide and its
association SA Makers
Inc, have gone through
a bit of a roller
coaster ride, with
workshops being
cancelled, volunteers
having to stay away
due to potential
contact, and the
Adelaide CBD being
mostly empty of foot
traffic.
The continued
impacts of the COVID
pandemic have been
devastating the city
landscape. If you have
been following our
social media posts,
you will know that we
are making the
difficult decision to
find a new location
for our beloved space.
We have put out
a call for action to
help "Save our Space"
and to raise funds for
that move. We have had
some exciting
developments about new
locations and our goal
is to be able to
announce further
details in the very
near future; however,
for right now, we need
your help! If you can
support the cause
please do so via the
Chuffed Campaign or
help spread the word.

Our Space:
Fundraiser Event
Friday 25th of
February
We are holding a
fundraising event on
Friday 25th of
February at 100
Franklin Street
Adelaide. It will be a
night of fun and
making, and a chance
to meet the Makers
that have kept
Makerspace Adelaide
going.
Tickets to the
evening are $50 and
include nibbles, two
drinks, and free
merch!
We would love
to see you there…

Some
of the items that
are up for Auction
at SOS Event
There are beautiful
items such as
Jewellery, Cutting
boards, Scarfs, Phone
stands, Artwork,
Knitwear, Cosmic Ray
Detector (cosmic
wind-chime), and much
more!
Some of our Volunteers
will auction off their
skills and services;
for example, who would
like to have a one on
one with someone
teaching Picture
framing or Vinyl heat
transfer designs? How
about a giant vortex
cannon at your next
event or party?

Operations Manager
We would like to
announce Laura Gransbury
has stepped into the
Makerspace Operations
Manager role, supported
by the operation team
and board.
Laura brings many skills
and leadership qualities
to this role, as a
passionate maker,
repairer and up-cycler.
Laura's advocacy and
knowledge for
sustainability in the
textiles industry and
the end of fast fashion
are second to none. We
are very fortunate that
Laura had the capacity
to take on this role.
We could not operate
without the dedicated
passion of volunteers
and those who help keep
the place moving
forward. We are grateful
to have so many skilled
and passionate people
ready to step up.
Our goal in moving to
new premises is to
ensure that we are able
to invest in people
rather than see all our
efforts and revenue go
into commercial rent. |

Adelaide Shop
We also have a
passionate group of
our Volunteer Makers
setting up a shop for
Makerspace Adelaide.
The underlying ethos
is that stocked items
will be made by makers
using reclaimed,
reused, and repurposed
materials.
As items are
created, they will
initially be posted on
our Instagram and
Facebook pages with
listed prices;
however, we will keep
you informed once we
settle on additional
platforms for access
to view or purchase
items.
