Hi all,

On Thursday I attended a planning meeting with the team organising the Adelaide Mini Maker Faire to get an idea of how Hackerspace Adelaide will be involved.

First things first. It will be held in and around Adelaide College of the Arts (Light Square) on Saturday April 6. It will run all day, from 10am to 6pm.

It's a curated event. That means that people who want to show something need to fill out an "expression of interest" form.

The organising team will then look over all the the expressions and build a program around it.

They would like it if Hackerspace put in a collective expression of interest, so we can get an area of our own, and they know how big it will need to be.

For that reason, if you have something that you would like to show at the Makerfaire, please email me (or reply to this post).

Please tell me what you would like to show by MIDNIGHT SUNDAY FEBRUARY 10 (So I can submit it to the Makerfaire team on Monday.

I'll collect up the various descriptions and send the (hopefully) big list to the Makerfaire people so they can allocate enough space for us.

Small things as well as big things are welcome. Working things, failed things. Anything that captures the spirit of the Hackerspace.

Ideally, you will be available to explain and demo your thing during the day. If you can't, your thing will hopefully be simple enough for a volunteer to explain (and demonstrate) to interested people.

We will also need volunteers at our stand, so let me know if you are available for some or all of the day.

99% of being a volunteer is answering questions about Hackerspace and talking to people about geeky stuff. If you are happy to do this, you will be worth your weight in Antimatter.

I'm good to go for most or all of the day.

I'll see about getting my rover and UAV in some kind of viewable state.

(No flight demo!)

Hi all,

It slipped under my radar, but apparently deadline for expresions of interest has been extended. If you could let me know what you would like to show at the Hackerspace stall by the end of the Hacksession on Wednesday the 20th, that would be great.

But that's cool because I haven't heard from so many of you about what you might want to show.

If you are even kind of thinking of showing something, please email me and let me know. I can juggle a certain number of "maybes", because it will be a group show.

I guess my main interest will be how big each persons display will be so I can get an idea of how much space to ask for.

Thanks,

Hi Pix
I will have e-textiles, crocheted wire and e-waste sculptures.  I will be working on some of these throughout the day.  I'll need about 1m x 60cm - a small desk size.

Thanks, Kylie :-)

Cool, Rob.

Also, to everyone else reading, please let me know what you will be showing at the Mini-maker faire by tonight so I can put together our expression of interest.

Thanks,

I may as well show off some Project Horus stuff.

I'll probably have a small weather balloon and some payloads & videos on display.

Definitely! Thanks.

Any everyone else, big or small, finished, unfinished, it doesn't matter. If there is some kind of displayable representation of what it is you do at hackerspace, it will be great to give people an idea of what Hackerspace Adelaide is.
