I bought 20 a while ago at MSY on Currie St in the city.

They may or may not have any in stock though.

Hey Scott,

Do you need a trade account to get that? According to their website it's more like $3.

yeah I have a account with them - possibly something HS should look at applying for.

No minimum spend/ monthy fees etc, just need to apply so that you can get a login and access to the wholesale prices.

Users can order online, pay online with credit card and ship out to where ever - so multiple hacker members could use it, just pay with their own card at the time of ordering.

i have cable, the connectors are dirt cheap and my mate Ross bought a crimping tool.

We could chain him to a bench and get him to crimp

are you serious? even if you could get all the parts for free, I doubt the average person could make and test more than one patch lead every 5 minutes with hand crimping tools. I can think of easier ways to make about $10 an hour...

Once you factor in the cost the materials, and the odd stuff-up, you would be on pretty much $0 an hour, and still end up with an inferior product - no injection/over molding of strain relief etc.

P.S. I also have a crimping tool on my desk, a free supply of connectors and cable... but it only gets used when I have to make up very long cables that need to get pulled through small spaces that a pre-crimped cable won't fit through - even then I will often buy a pre-made cable that is more than long enough, cut one end off and pull it through, I can then trim it to length and re-crimp the trimmed end.
