I have used Ghost Commander.  It allows the user to designate certain Folders as FAVORITES.  In order to do that you need to type the ASTERISK * key.  But there is no text entry field.  You just need access to the on-screen keyboard to enter that *

So can I just call up, summon or invoke your keyboard without a TEXT field showing?

Thanks in advance.

Yes, set Hacker's Keyboard settings > input settings > use permanent notification. Tap the notification to open the keyboard.

>> Hacker's Keyboard settings > input settings > use permanent notification <<

Great info... thanks... That need has come up a number of times over
the years and I missed it completely.

A couple of notes from tinkering with it after your post;

(Obviously) Hacker's keyboard needs to be the active keyboard for the
notification to appear after setting permanent notification.

The permanent notification remains after switching to another
keyboard, however, the notification is then inactive... tapping it has
no effect... i.e. it will not activate the Hackers keyboard nor
activate the current keyboard.

Hope that this information is helpful,
Beverly Howard
