Hi my name is Michael and I'm a local Iowa City kid -

I wanted to comment on what I plan to bring to the first 'session'
While I am bringing my own projects to work on (think radio controlled flying things)
I will also be happy to help anyone with their projects

My background includes DIY electronics with a large dose of real-world experience.
I spent years assembling and installing Megasquirt Fuel-Injection controllers
If you have a DIY project that you built and it didn't work I would be happy to help diagnose it.

I will bring the following tools along to use and share.

- A set of screwdrivers from normal to ultra-tiny
- Torx bits down to size T5 (used on modern mobile devices)
- A soldering iron, solder, de-soldering wick etc...
- Assorted electronics parts & components
- One (1)  12Volt regulated bench power supply
- Chargers for batteries Lithium, Ni-Cad, Ni-MH  pretty much anything used in R/C toys
- Batteries- AA, AAA, 9volt etc...  you know, the kind that aren't always included?

Would anyone else care to comment on what they are bringing for projects, tools or skills?

Looking forwards to a great event!

-Michael Webb

I'm a software developer, so I will be bringing.......SURPRISE! A laptop. :) I will also be bringing a couple different Android-based phones to work on some apps.

It will be interesting to see what types of projects others bring include both software AND hardware.

Good call.  It would be great to share tools.  I'm in the middle of developing schematics and layouts, so all I plan to bring is a laptop.  However I'm happy to bring AVR or PIC debugger, multimeter, o-scope, or logic analyzer if they are of some help to anyone.  Just let me know.

My background is primarily in embedded system engineering and computer security.  While I spend most of my time in the software realm, I do possess experience in digital electronic design as well.  I'm interested in exploring collaborative opportunities in security, electronic arts, and social issues in science and technology.

See you Saturday,

Greg

I will have my electronics gear on premises. Soldering iron, multi
meter, various other things. Also a few circuit bent things if
anybody wants to explore that. I think I will probably be working on
my card game and/or programming on a prototype I've been working
toward for a while but others are free to use the other stuff. Should
be awesome. I'm also going to try and make sure there is plenty of
coffee (my drink of choice) but if there are particular other drinks
or snacks people would like to have let me know so I can go get some
later today (we can always make some snack/drink runs during the day
tomorrow if we need to as well).

Looking forward to meeting and hanging out with all of you!

I'll likely be working on some Android / opencv stuff so I'll be bringing my laptop, a power strip,  a chair, and not much else.

Can't wait for tomorrow, should be a lot of fun.
