Hey everybody, just wanted to give you a few quick updates on Hacker Fair 1.
The
first change: Hacker Fair 1 tickets purchased more than a week in
advance for recruiters are now at the very affordable price of "donate
however much you feel like to Hacker Dojo." We just do not have the
volunteer staff to work through the financial situation of every single
interested startup as promptly and accurately as I would like, so we're
going to go on the honor system. Pitch in what you can. Candidate
tickets purchased more than a week in advance are still free. Please note that we are not removing the rather steep "last minute ticket"
prices. We want everybody to get their tickets well in advance so we
can plan food and how much space we need. Get your tickets at

I've been writing with a lot of you and trying to get feedback on Hacker Fair 0.
The
biggest frustration for recruiters seemed to be the inability to locate
specific candidates. A list of where all the candidates were stationed
was maintained by the staff, but that announcement did not seem to
travel as well as we thought it did. This time we plan to put a copy
of that document projected on the wall.
The biggest frustration for candidates was the fact that they were
essentially tied to their stations and unable to go seek out recruiters
they really wanted to work for. This is why we, pending appropriate
support and sponsorship, hope to have a time at the end of the fair
where we will let candidates pack up their demos, move all the tables
to the wall, and have a small social so that candidates have the
ability to find a recruiter and strike up a conversation.
Speaking of sponsorship, a huge thanks to Twilio for being our
first sponsor of Hacker Fair 1! If you would like your company to be a
sponsor, please email me promptly so I can be sure to thank you on the
Ignite slides.
Thanks,
Katy
