On a beautiful Saturday afternoon at the timeless Berkeley City Club, Ragini and Brandon were married in a multicultural interfaith ceremony that they personally crafted, blending Indian, Hindu, Jewish, and Christian traditions and involving their families on both sides. Unique, personal weddings are my absolute favorite, and I was just so happy to be a part of this day!
Murarka was encouraged to pursue her Ph.D. but remembers seeing news reports of bleak job prospects for students with doctorates in physics. Instead, she focused her attention on an up-and-coming technology: computers.
Murarka moved to New York in 1973 with her husband, Ishwar, a postdoc in the Department of Statistics. The pair had met in an elevator his first day at NC State and reconnected when he responded to an ad to purchase furniture she was selling. She secured a job doing modeling software, thanks in part to her background in physics. She noted that her first supervisor was impressed with her analytical and computer skills and her ability to deliver presentations.
Today, she serves on the board of Ekal Vidyalaya, a non-profit organization that creates and runs schools in India, and presides over the Sameer Ishwar Murarka Memorial Foundation established in memory of her younger son, Sameer.
Recently, Murarka has decided to give back to the institution that helped launch her career by establishing an award endowment to support NC State graduate students in physics, particularly those who are traditionally underrepresented in the discipline. She was inspired by her husband, who did the same at his graduate alma mater, Oregon State University.

Dr Porwal graduated from the prestigious UCSF School of Dentistry at the top of her class, with honors.
She also holds a Bachelors Degree in Dentistry which she attained in 1998.
Her artistic inclination and her focus on detail while keeping the end goal in mind makes her an excellent clinician and a quality dentist.
She is part of many leading study clubs and believes strongly in the power of continuing education.
She keeps up with latest in technology, materials, and research and continually updates her practice.
And she is a champion of nerves. Her calm chairside manners, excellent clinical skills, including options of Nitrous and Conscious Sedation Dentistry provides a good experience based on individual needs.
Her dental philosophy entails her as the clinician evaluating and providing all information based on her diagnosis and lay out all the treatment options for her patients. The patients then work in cohort with her as a partner to finalize a treatment plan for the best acceptable outcome.
When Dr Porwal is not working with patients or taking continuing education courses, she enjoys spending time with her family, travelling, hiking or exploring new activities with her 7 year old daughter.
She volunteers at local charity programs and organizations such as Give Back a Smile, the Red Cross, and local food banks.
She also travels back to India to provide dental care and education to the less fortunate there.
"I have had dentures most of my life, Dr. Porwal is the first dentist to go the extra mile to make my new teeth exactly how I wanted them to look, (fabulous)! The receptionist Ashley was always very nice, along with the other front end personnel. I would recommend Comfort Dental to anyone in need of a personal touch to make your smile something you want to do every day. Thank you Julie V. From Oakley Ca."
"Dr. Porwal is good at what she does. I had to see someone else when she was out of town recently and it really brought home how much better she was when I had a recent alternative to compare her work with. Very good with pain management. Also the office uses up to date technology and I prefer the restorations I have had done with her lazer over the drill work of dentists still using that. They offer late appointments so I have no trouble scheduling around my work schedule."

EAST LANSING, Mich. - The Michigan State women's tennis team played its first dual match of the spring season on Saturday morning, as it played host to William and Mary at the MSU Indoor Tennis Facility. William and Mary entered today's match ranked No. 15 in the nation and proved to be too much for the Spartans, defeating MSU, 5-2.
The Spartans started the match strong, as No. 3 doubles Ana Milosavljevic and Whitney Wilson downed William and Mary's Barbera Zidek and Klaudyna Kasztelaniec, 8-6. Soon after, MSU's No. 2 doubles Lindsey Lonergan and Manon Noe defeated Ragini Acharya and Magdalena Bresson, 8-6, and MSU took the first point of the match.
The Tribe was too much to handle in singles action, as William and Mary defeated the Spartans in five of six matches. At No. 1 singles, William and Mary's Megan Moulton-Levy, ranked No. 12 in the nation, defeated MSU's Christine Bader, 6-2, 6-0. In No. 3 singles, MSU's Stephanie Kebler came out on fire against No. 55 Ragini Acharya, winning the first set 6-1, but eventually fell in three sets, 1-6, 6-1, 6-3. At No. 6, Michigan State's Ana Milosavljevic extended her singles record to 9-2 on the season, as she defeated Lauren Sabacinski, 6-4, 6-3.
"I was very proud of how we performed today," said MSU head coach Erica Perkins. "We played with great energy and fire in doubles and it translated into the doubles point. I thought we came out and competed hard in singles, at one point I think we were up in the first set on five of the six courts. But you have to give credit to William and Mary. When things got tough they stepped up and won a lot of big points, and showed why they are one of the top teams in the nation. I really have no doubt that as we continue to work and improve; we will start winning those big points down the stretch. We proved today that we can compete with anyone in the nation. As we look to our matches on Monday we will strive to perform with the same energy and confidence that we showed today."
