Phil Maakestad

Phil Maakestad is a long-time construction volunteer and a dedicated member of the Rainier Vista volunteer crews. Over the last 15 years Phil has become an ever-dependable presence on site. Every year the Rainier Vista site organizes a Thanksgiving feast, and Phil cooks a turkey for it on a charcoal grill.

Home in Time for the Holidays!

The Norahun Mhretia family is one of 28 happy and appreciative families in the Seattle-King County area who will be able to celebrate Thanksgiving in the comfort of their own Habitat home for the first time this year.
Federal Way Dedication

Congrats to the Valdovinos family on their new home in the Westway Neighborhood of Federal Way!

On October 29th, employees from Delta Airlines and Habitat for Humanity Seattle-King County handed over the keys to a newly renovated home to an incredibly excited Mireya Valdovinos and her three children.

During the renovation over 345 Delta employees across all departments - from baggage claim to flight attendants to directors - eagerly came out to transform the Federal Way house.

Major Milestones

This is the 50th home in Federal Way Habitat has completed and the 400th home in King County built.

Join Us On December 2, 2014
for #GivingTuesday

What is Giving Tuesday?

Black Friday... Cyber Monday...Giving Tuesday!

A global day dedicated to giving back. On this day people around the world will come together for one common purpose: to celebrate generosity and to give. #GivingTuesday reminds us all that giving means much more than the exchange of material things. It could mean volunteering to build homes, helping out those in need, and, of course, donating to support your local community.

What Can I Do?

  • Make a charitable donation

  • Volunteer and help us build homes
  • Donate your gently used furniture, home goods, or building materials to the Seattle or Bellevue Habitat Store
  • Spread the word. Share Habitat for Humanity's Mission with your coworkers, family, and friends
Construction Update: La Fortuna

Building 8:

Construction of the triplex is now complete. The final building inspection has been signed off and the process to gain a certificate of occupancy is currently underway. In the next week or two we will be conducting walk through inspections with the three families to address any concerns and to provide information about the systems and appliances that are specific to their home.

Unit 6
Building 6: Construction of nine-unit townhouse.

Building 6:

Over the past few weeks we were able to complete slab preparation, install conduits for phone, cable and power on the exterior of the building and bolt down all remaining mudsill. Backfill around the exterior is currently underway and will be completed this week. We recently started framing and are seeing good progress. For the remainder of the year we will be focused on framing the garage level of this nine-unit building which will be home for nine Habitat families.

For ongoing updates on construction please visit the Current Habitat News Page.
