Wheelhouse Studios was named the Don Hunt
Communitarian Award winner at Souper Bowl XIX. Jay Ekleberry, Mini-Course Director at Wisconsin Union, and Studio Potter Gloria Van Dixhorn accepted the award at the Souper Bowl on Jan. 31.

Wheelhouse Studios donated several hundred pounds of clay and its artists donated more than 100 ceramic bowls this year.

Souper Bowl XIX raised more than $20,000 and is organized by the Habitat for Humanity of Dane County, UW-Madison Chapter.

In 2002, Don Hunt retired after 34 years as a ceramics art teacher at Madison West High School. Hunt was instrumental in organizing the Souper Bowl. The award was named after him, after Hunt passed away in August 2008 from brain cancer.
