To get rid of an issue with the Habari 0.7 AutoP plugin vs. the
jwmediaplayer plugin (see : http://groups.google.com/group/habari-users/browse_thread/thread/2b1209933a5a952b)
I was advised to install the markdown plugin. Activating the latter
automagically seemed to solve the problem, but today I discovered it
also caused a fresh one.

Browsing backwards to check the availability of my self hosted videos,
to be played with the jwmediaplayer plugin I found that
underscores_in_the_video_filename had been replaced with <em> tags,
making the video file unavailable to the videoplayer. This phenomenon
can only be attributed to the use of the markdown plugin and is highly
annoying since I seem now to have been caught between a rock and a
hard place.

See my predicament here, only to be solved on short notice by
replacing all video_file_name_underscores *by hand* and adjusting the
path names in all posts *by hand* with self hosted videos : http://imgur.com/H1fb5

Markdown Extra solves this problem:
http://michelf.com/projects/php-markdown/extra/#em

Just download the PHP Markdown Extra file and replace your
markdown.php file in the markdown plugin folder with it.

Alexander, thanks for responding so quickly !

I just downloaded the Markdown Extra files linked to in your post
above. I deactivated the Habari markdown plugin and replaced the file
*habarimarkdown.plugin.php* of the latter with an identically named
file from the former (the file in the Markdown Extra download is just
called *markdown.php*, but I figured I needed to change the name
first).
On reactivating the updated Habari Markdown plugin I now only see a
blank page ;-(

You need to replace the markdown.php file, not the habarimarkdown.plugin.php file.

If you look in the plugin directory, you'll see there is already a markdown.php file.  This is the one you need to replace.

Sorry for making this not clear enough.

You have to replace the markdown.php in your habarimarkdown folder
with the markdown.php from the Markdown Extra.
The habarimarkdown.plugin.php stays the same.

markdown.php contains the Markdown engine that you want to replace
with the Markdown Extra engine.
habarimarkdown.plugin.php explains Habari how to use this Markdown
Engine (so you should not touch it)

Hope this works,
Alexander

Yep, I just figured that out myself ;-)

All is well again, thank you both for coming to my rescue at such
short notice !
Alexander : you saved my day, Colin : thanks for keeping an eye out
for my n00b mistakes (again).

The awesome support of the Habari community cannot be praised enough.
Happy Easter weekend !
