ERROR WHEN INSTALL H5PY

Dear all:

When I installed h5py on a linux system, I met the following errors:

It said could not find pkgconfig, but I am sure the computer has installed this software. At first, I think it may becasue of the version of pkg-config is too old, so I installed the newest version of pkg-config,but still showing the same error. I quite want to know how to deal with this problem and anyone offers help would be grateful.

The problem is that setuptools cannot download pkgconfig (the python package). Why this is so depends on your setup (e.g. connection issues to PyPI, problematic settings in distutils.cfg). Can you pip install pkgconfig? If that works, can you easy_install pkgconfig?

I have installed the pkg-config on the computer, why didn't the h5py detect its existing?

There are two separate things, pkg-config the program (https://www.freedesktop.org/wiki/Software/pkg-config/), which reads .pc files and returns what needs to be linked in, and pkgconfig (https://pypi.python.org/pypi/pkgconfig/1.1.0), the python package which wraps pkg-config, and converts the output of pkg-config into a format that python's packaging system can use. While you can install pkg-config (installing h5py doesn't require it, it just makes it easier to install), you need to be able to download/have installed pkgconfig (you also require cython and numpy). Did you successfully "pip install pkgconfig"? What about "easy_install pkgconfig"? The output from those commands will tell us what the problem is.
