Hi everyone

This is mostly a question about Ant Build Script. I am writing a book
on HTML5 Boilerplate and am at a place where I am taking the target
audience - people who barely know the basics of writing HTML and are
most likely to be frightened of CLI - through using the build script.
I am gobsmacked by the lack of coherent instructions on how to install
ant-contrib on a mac or how terrible it is to install on Windows
(requires Java SDK & WinAnt and careful pointing of files).

At this point I am very tempted to just do the guidance with node
build script and point to the ant build script for the more advanced
users. Is that okay? Any other suggestions?

The configuration required with both is pretty somewhat rough for newbs.

Setup-wise it used to be the case that node was far more complicated, but luckily things are better these days.

I don't think the Ant is for more advanced users, to be honest both of them are pretty advanced. Ant is just for folks where Java is easily accessible and a node-based infrastucture wouldn't fly.

I think best might be to ease over the install instructions for the book and mostly talk about usage and featureset.

(And ideally we get better install docs for both ant and node BS's added to each project soon)

I'll open it as an issue, if just to drum up a volunteer to help with Mac install documentation.
