Dear Dr. Vauclair,
My name is Edyta Charzyńska, and I am an Assistant Professor at the University of Katowice in Poland. My research interests lie primarily in the area of substance and behavioral addictions. Currently, I am co-leading the project titled: “The role of macro-, meso-, and micro-level factors in work addiction and related health problems,” which received funding from the National Science Centre in Poland [Grant number 2020/39/D/HS6/00198]. The project is co-led by Dr. Paweł Atroszko from the University of Gdańsk, Poland, who is highly involved in research on work addiction and study addiction.
You can find our details and the links to our accounts on ResearchGate and Google Scholar at the email footer.
Our current project is embedded in the context of systematic research on compulsive overworking conducted by Dr. Atroszko and his international collaborators. To get a better insight into the current state of knowledge on work addiction, you may wish to take a look at two of the papers prepared by this team:

In the current project, we aim to examine the cultural, organizational, and individual predictors of work addiction and their interactions. At least 40 countries around the world are going to be involved in this study. Now we are looking for international collaborators who would like to engage in the project and collect the samples from their own countries. Several most distinguished addiction researchers in the world have already accepted our invitation to work with us on this project (among others Prof. Mark Griffiths from the Nottingham Trent University, UK, Prof. Ståle Pallesen from the University of Bergen, Norway, and Prof. Halley Pontes from the University of London, UK). We think you might also be interested in collaborating with us since you have been a member of some successful cross-cultural projects.
Your tasks in the project would focus on obtaining data in Portugal and would not be very time-consuming. Your first task would be to prepare the translation of the questionnaires. Next, our team would prepare the online survey. We then send you the link to the survey and ask you to disseminate it among the potential participants. Each partner should collect an online sample of at least 200 full-time employed adults who work in organizations with at least 10 employees in total. The participants should have been working for the current employer for at least one year.
The project obtained approval from the Research Ethics Committee in Katowice, Poland. Participation in the study will be anonymous and voluntary. We will recommend that you apply for the approval of the Ethics Committee at your university before starting collecting the data. However, if a component of the research that will take place in your country does not require ethical approval in your country, you can omit this step.
Please let us know if you are interested in cooperating with us on this project. If you agree to be our partner, we will send you a detailed description of the terms and conditions of our cooperation and the procedures you will be asked to follow. After receiving your acceptance, we will assign you a member of the team who will assist you every step of the way. They will send you the questionnaires in English and provide you with all the needed instructions. You may start translations as soon as you agree to collaborate with us, and data collection will follow after we prepare a link to the survey in your country. International partners who collect the samples for us would be listed as the co-authors of three articles prepared on the basis of the data gathered in the study.
We do hope that we will work together on this project!
On behalf of the research team,
Edyta Charzyńska and Paweł Atroszko
