New Hitchhiker's Guide Entry: Restaurants.
The restaurant trade is as colourful and surprising as any
profession can be. Its disciplines vary wildly from the "cook and eat
something you found by the side of the road" shack to the exclusive
and unadvertised table for two at the top of a skyscraper variety. In
between these two extremes are the eateries for the rest of us,
serving the galaxy’s fare with a vacant sneer and an overpriced wine
list.
Going out to eat has been a staple of life in the cosmos since
the hunter in the cave next door had more megabison than he really
needed and invited his neighbours over to stop it going to waste.
Eating out has, mostly, evolved since then into genteel dinners at
other peoples houses or putting on your best furs to go and eat
charred meat in public...
