Hi,
I'using H2 db in my app (Hibernate + Spring). On h2 website there are some speed test comparisons also with HSQLDB. In this tests seems that H2 should be faster then HSQLDB.

However here http://www.jpab.org/Hibernate/H2/embedded/Hibernate/HSQLDB/embedded.html I found some more tests about H2 embedded vs HSQLDB embedded and in many cases seems that HSQL is faster then H2.

Someone can give me some opinion about this?

Thanks very much

Hi,

I did not analyze in detail, but a few things I noticed:

- The tested versions of H2 and HSQLDB seem to be quite old.
- Memory usage is not the same.
- With EclipseLink, H2 seems to be faster than HSQLDB

I'm not claiming H2 is faster than HSQLDB. If you need the fasted possible database for your use case, I suggest to try a few and pick the fastest for your specific case.

Regards,
Thomas
