Any chance to achieve better performances for OTHER columns through "jboss-serialization" library?

Just wondering if having the ability to switch to a standard java serialization compatible mechanism like jboss-serialization could lead to better performance for columns of type OTHER. Did anyone tried so far?

I will take a shot at answering that one.

since version 1.3.170 the property h2.javaObjectSerializer has been added in order to make the serialization process plugable.
Thus it should be trivial to use the jboss-serialization process by just implementing your own javaObjectSerializer and benchmark it against the normal process.

Even if I am not a micro-benchmark fan, today I've sketched a raw comparison
of h2 serialization for jboss-serialization, apache kryo and h2 native
serialization.

It seems kryo is the best. But this is only a starting point (i.e. I've
taken only the avg for execution)
