Role Overview:
As an SAP Developer, will play a key role in building and enhancing SAP-based solutions, with a focus on OData services, ABAP development, and CDS views and will collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business needs, develop scalable services, ensure high system performance, and maintain compliance with enterprise standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Development & Enhancement:
- Design data models and entity types for OData services using Gateway Service Builder and ABAP.
- Develop and maintain custom OData services including CRUD operations to meet evolving business needs.
- Implement logic, associations, navigation, and routing within OData services.
- Customize and enhance existing OData services by adding new fields and logic as required.
- Identify and develop Custom CDS Views to support reporting and analytical requirements.
Testing & Documentation:
- Perform unit and integration testing to validate service functionality and performance.
- Create and maintain comprehensive documentation including technical specifications, user guides, and bug resolution logs.
- Conduct scale and stress testing to ensure high availability and performance across SAP clients.
Deployment, Monitoring & Bug Fixes:
- Oversee the transport and deployment of OData services across development, test, and production environments.
- Monitor and optimize the performance of services, identifying and resolving technical issues proactively.
- Apply patches and updates as needed to maintain system stability and security.
Security & Administration:
- Implement role-based security for OData services, including authentication and authorization measures.
- Define and manage SAP roles and authorization objects in compliance with organizational policies and industry regulations.
- Support the creation and configuration of new SAP clients as business demands evolve.
Collaboration & Communication:
- Engage with stakeholders to gather business requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
- Communicate proactively with project managers, functional leads, and end-users to ensure alignment and timely issue resolution.
- Participate in agile ceremonies and support cross-functional initiatives tied to SAP and enterprise digital transformation.
Must have skills:
- Senior level SAP experience (12+ years) with at least 3+ years in SAP OData Service Development (mandatory).
- Strong SAP ABAP experience is also required.
- Must be more focused experience on Support (testing, monitoring , bug fixes etc) with Development/Enhancement of new & existing Data Service Models
- Experience with SAP Gateway, CDS Views, and SAP client configurations.
- Solid understanding of SAP landscape in a Post-migration environment.
- Familiarity with security concepts, transport management, and performance monitoring.
- Strong communication and documentation skills.
- Experience in the energy or utilities sector.
- Knowledge of SAP S/4HANA.
- Exposure to SAP Fiori/UI5 or integration with external tools and systems.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
