Now that the year is drawing to a close and our chances to ride together are diminishing, I'd like to say a huge "THANK YOU" to everyone that made this a great year of cycling.  From a personal perspective, there have been many Gyros who helped me along and made riding a lot of fun.  After a dozen or so years out of the saddle, it has been wonderful to have this sort of friendship and encouragement.  In addition, I want to specifically thank all of the people who have lead the Gyros' rides.  While I'm sure that I will miss some names, people like Tony (our captain!), Bert, Smith & Claude, Kim, Maria, Tom, Dave, Andy, Hal, Ed, Leslie, and Mike have done a tremendous amount of work shepherding us around the back roads of North Carolina.  None of the Gyros' fun or success would have been possible without their efforts.  And being directionally challenged myself, I'd probably be found alone and shivering in some remote county if it wasn't for the their cue sheets and shouting of directions.

To all of you, thanks for everything that you've done to make 2009 a great year to be on the bike and Happy Holidays!

Ditto! Great group!

Tony does the really heavy lifting. The hours he spends on this group is lost on most but it takes everyone to make it successful.

Best to all,

Ed

I have to say a big AMEN to that. Before we even moved to the area I
had emailed Tony and he graciously responded to my questions about the
club. My first experience was on Mike Dalton's Sunday ride and Mike
was and continues to be so gracious and generous. Too early on I was
on a ride which I didnt' need to be on and Tony stayed with me and
made sure I got back safely. Two years later I really attribute my
transition to N.C. to the friendship I have made with the Gryros
family. Thank you everyone and I feel blessed to be a part of the
Gyros family.
