Hi GypsyJazzStudents,
here is my first contribution to the Subject001. As requested in the
Subject001, It is an attempt to create a solo over the given chord
progression in Am key. My contribution consists of two files : an
audio (.wma) file which is the recording of the solo (pls don't be
severe with me, I am self-teaching myself...) and a Powertab (.ptb)
file which is the tab of the solo. You can play the audio file with
Winamp or other similar softwares. In the tab file I have inserted
some explanations to show my choices. The rhythm part in the audio fle
is a commercial backing track taken by a GJ method.
It's advisable to download the files instead of run them directly from
the net, because the process can be slow.
It's all for now. I look forward to see your contributions!
All the best and see you here on the Group.

I have forgot to tell you where to find the files : in the Files
Section of course!

Thanks for starting this group. I have recently started playing GJ and
really need as much help as I can get with understanding the process
of creating solos that have the "gypsy" sound.
I looked at the power tab file that you created and the notations of
your ideas really make sense. I will try to come up with something
based on the chord progression you started with and post it.

Hi BillyDjoe,
happy to hear you here! Good choice to start to learn GJ. If you are new to the genre, I suggest you to start with the correct picking(the rest-stroke technique) : in GJ everything starts from there.
Do you partecipate to the Djangobooks forum? It is a great resource on the net.
Hope to see you here soon with your contributions.
Ciao,
Tommaso
