IARMAC, followed by a Public Lecture by Oleg Timofeyev: “Sergei
Orekhov: The Genesis of Style” (free and open to the public)
5:30 p.m. Dinner break
8:00 p.m. Congregational Church, Concert: “The Legacy of Sergei
Orekhov.” Performers: Oleg Timofeyev, Fyodor Kondenko, Vadim Kolpakov,
Ivan Nikolaev, Daria Stepashkina. (Admission $12 for adults, $10 for
students and seniors.)
Friday, May 30:
10 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. 2520D UCC, Masterclass by John Schneiderman on
“Russian Seven-String Guitar for Beginners” (IARGUS participants only)
1:00 p.m. Lunch break
4:00 p.m. University of Iowa School of Music, Harper Hall, Concert:
“19th Century Russian Chamber Music.” Performers: The Czar’s Guitars,
Vivien Shotwell, Marcelina Turcanu, Stefan Wester, Troy Cummings.
(Admission $12 for adults, $10 for students and seniors.)
6:00 and 8:00 p.m. UI Theater B, Performances of “Baba Yaga and the
Black Sunflower,” a play by Carol Korty with music by Scott Wheeler. A
joint production of Market Street Theater School, Crescendo Children’s
Choir, with participation of the IARGUS Festival Ensemble. (Admission
$10 for adults, $7 for children. Tickets for this event will be

“The Russian Enchantment with Gypsy Music, 1800-present” (free and
open to the public)
11:30 p.m. – 1:00 p.m. 2520D UCC, Masterclass by Fyodor Kondenko on
“Arranging Russian-Gypsy Music in Classical Style” (IARGUS
participants only)
1:00 p.m. Lunch break
5:00 p.m. Brucemore, Cedar Rapids, Concert: “The Treasury of Russian
Gypsy Romance.” Performers: Zingaresca, Fyodor Kondenko, Ivan
Nikolaev, Daria Stepashkina. (Admission $50)
9:00 p.m. 101 BCSB, Screening of Frautschi, a video documentary on the
life and work of the Muscovite guitar pedagogue Kamill A. Frautschi
(free and open to the public)

all IARGUS 2008 performers and participants. (Admission $12 for

in preparation for our annual Russian Guitar Festival, we will be
holding a fundraising Gala in Cedar Rapids this coming Saturday, May
17, 2008. Please find attached an invitation to the event. Tickets are
$50.00 per person.

The event will feature live music, sample traditional Gypsy dishes in
memory of the Gypsy Lore Society Jubilee Dinner of 1938, and a silent
auction.
Proceeds will benefit the Third Annual International Russian Seven-
String Guitar Seminar and Festival (IARGUS 2008), to be held in Iowa
City and Cedar Rapids from May 29th through June 1, 2008.
This year's festival will be dedicated to the legendary Russian Guitar
virtuoso Sergei Orekhov. For a concert schedule and more information,
