Hello Gypsies!
We've tried hard to make this year happen, but due to many folks not getting tickets the momentum died pretty quick and we just couldn't get enough committed crew or funds to run her again this year.
SO.....
Here's the dilemma and I would like to open it to the group for suggestions and desires before making any decisions.
The GQ takes a group to safely run out there and the last few years it's been difficult to make that happen. Right now she is stored out on the ranch north of Gerlach at a cost of $1600/ year, due in August. She also needs some repairs from sitting in the elements for so long. I just don't have the money to even store her anymore and in the past it has been difficult to raise. There doesn't seem to be enough core crew interest in getting her out there and raising the funds necessary to run her in recent years.
I need someone to take ownership and responsibility for her, with my own financial situation and my business taking all of my time it's hard to have much time/energy/money to do much else.
I know people would like to see her run again, and stay within the group....So does anyone have a desire to make this happen? Does anyone have suggestions?
I have spoken to Robby and while he would also like to see her go out again he has no interest ion taking her back over or going out to Bman again. He's open to whatever we all decide even if that is selling her to someone else or just scrapping her.
I'd hate to see that happen but at the moment I need to do something- so if you have thoughts or are interested in taking her over, speak up! :-)
Please hit "Reply all" to this email so we can continue this discussion as a group unless you feel the need to message me privately.
Because of business and financial obligations I had planned on taking this year off, but there was a bit of interest for a while so I decided to go back out again with the GQ. I'm back to taking the year off again, I will miss you all!

It was a brilliant time. We were lucky to camp w you folks. This year will probly be our last year. It's getting all mucked up w rich people & their outfitted camps & wrist band art cars.

I will tentatively offer a home for anyone looking. We have a client in Taiwan who is part of a sister community wih our Fremont arts council in Seattle. He's asked us for help. He apparently got a grant -his English is sketchy in emails- & is bringing 40 people from Taipei, (!!!!) along w a night market, & a Matsu temple. I can guarantee he'll need help so would be open to having anyone we can corral to camp there. I know nothing about his ticket situation.

Tesla et al and Gypsies!

Like I mentioned by phone the other day, I think our best bet would be to contact the owner JB of the ranch where it is stored. JB has fixed up a number of school buses for various projects and could certainly use portions of the Gypsy queen. If we contact him first and there is no interest then we can move on to trying to find somebody that wants to take ownership of it. One of my concerns is that once we transfer ownership we also transfer over liability. That means if someone chooses to make it an art car and it is not sturdy that none of us are responsible for any damages incurred. As long as we are not liable any more in the transfer paperwork it should be fine. But we shouldn't just give it to someone there should be documents that alleviates us of any liability. I know you are probably thinking the same thing I just wanted to state it! :-)  Kelly

Yes Kelly, that is the next plan of action I think is best. I just wanted to make sure that the Gypsies had no interest or ideas before we moved forward with anyone outside the crew.  And no, I will not keep my name on anything once it goes to anyone else, even within the group. I don't mind taking the liability within a group I trust when I will be present, but I can't take that risk otherwise. I was planning on talking with JB next, and also to a potential buyer after that, but thought I would see if anyone on the crew had an interest or some other ideas/preferences. :-)
