Theme: "The
Realities of a Changing Climate: Meeting the Challenge"
The U.S. Department of State (DOS) invites applications to support a new training and
inter-governmental policy dialogue program on water and environment issues in
the Lower Mekong Region (Cambodia, Lao PDR, Myanmar, Thailand, and
Vietnam).
DOS seeks to enter into a cooperative agreement with
one or more non-profits, non-governmental organizations, or international
organizations to establish and implement the LMI Environment and Water Pillar
Training Program.

The 22nd European Seminar on
Extension and Education (ESEE) will be held in Wageningen and hosted by the
Education and Competence Studies Group (ECS) of Wageningen
University.
The Forest Team is part of
the Natural
resources group (NRG) whose planned goal for the FY15-19 strategy
period is increased investment in locally controlled and sustainable land and
natural resource use, by working with partners at local, national and
international levels - generating evidence, strengthening capability and
influencing policy and practice.
The Future for Nature Award recognizes internationally
outstanding efforts to conserve wild animals and plants. Work related to
endangered species (IUCN's Red List) is a priority. Candidates for the
award should be no older than age 35. The Award offers international
recognition, financial support, and reinforced linkages to an international
conservation network.
The EEP for Southern and East Africa announces its 8th call
for proposals. The program invites applications in support of local private
sector projects in renewable energy and energy efficiency that are close to
commercial maturity, but that need a limited amount of bridging finance to
enable sustainable business growth.
ITTO
makes grants through the Freezailah Fellowship Fund for training
opportunities, demonstration tours, participation in conferences and
workshops, preparation of technical papers, and post-graduate degrees. Grants
up to US$10 thousand are in support of sustainable tropical forest
management. Applicants are young and mid-career professionals in ITTO's
member countries; most grants are to individuals in the developing countries.
The deadline for the second application cycle in 2014 is 22 August
2014.
The ASEAN Social Forestry Network is funded by the Swiss
Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) to integrate social forestry
into the climate change adaptation and mitigation strategies of ASEAN and its
member states. The network's Strategic Response Fund provides seed funds
to help network leaders and focal points respond to immediate needs or
catalyze strategic actions on social forestry as it relates to climate
change, food security, and poverty alleviation. The announcement lists
the types of actions that can be funded.
CTI's Private Financing Advisory Network (CTI PFAN) seeks to
identify promising projects for adapting to climate change which have the
capability of raising private financing. The Asia Forum for Clean
Energy Financing (AFCEF-5) invites entrepreneurs, start-up and existing
companies, project teams, and consortia with environmentally beneficial
business to submit business plans for the development of clean energy and
related technologies. The competition is open to persons and companies
resident or actively operating and /
USAID's Office of Foreign Disaster Assistance seeks to
fund an NGO that works internationally to build the capacity and technical
knowledge of Kenyan NGOs in matters of disaster risk reduction at the
community level in the event of future droughts. Thematic areas include
management of water supply, agriculture and livestock, and others. The
project will operate in one or more of Turkana, Garissa, Wajir, Mandera, and
Marsabit as the basis for expansion to other organizations across
Kenya. Funding Opportunity APS-OFDA-14-000008.
The
Worldwide Universities Network comprises 17 research universities on five
continents to develop leaders prepared to address the challenges and
opportunities of the rapidly changing world. WUN's Research Development
Fund is an annual competitive fund to bring together researchers to undertake
research that addresses global challenges. Themes for 2014 include one on
responding to climate change. Applications are open to researchers from WUN
member institutions. Grants are up to £15 thousand.
The IPNI
Science Award recognizes and promotes distinguished contributions by
scientists involved with global ecological intensification of crop
production. The Award of US$5 thousand is presented each year.
Eligibility extends to agronomists, crop scientists, soil scientists, and
food scientists in the public and private sectors of all countries.The
deadline for nominations is 30 September 2014.
The Energy Globe Award is for projects that conserve and
protect natural resources, or that employ renewable energy. The international
winner in each category ("earth," "water,"
"fire," "air," and "youth") is awarded €10
thousand. Applicants can be individuals as well as organizations (i.e.,
private companies and corporations, development NGOs, community associations,
government agencies, and others). The deadline for submissions is 22
September 2014.
La Georg August Universität Göttingen (Alemania) y la Universidad de
Talca (Chile) ofrecen un programa conjunto de PhD en Economía
agrícola (JJPAE=Joint PhD Program in Agricultural Economics). Durante el

The Weeden Foundation makes grants for biodiversity
conservation in forest ecosystems, riparian corridors, and riverine and
aquatic environments of ecological importance. Weeden's international
geographical priorities are the Patagonia region of Chile, and the Altai
Republic of Russia. The Foundation requests letters of inquiry (LOI) at least
one month before proposal deadlines.
“PRO NATURA FUND” is a conservation grant
program managed by Pro Natura Foundation Japan. This program is focused on
the scientific research concerning the conservation of biodiversity and the
relationship between humans and the environment.

The Lincoln Institute of Land Policy announces its 2014
call for research proposals on land policy and urban development in Latin
America. The research proposals will be reviewed competitively based on the
weighted evaluation criteria indicated below. These criteria favor empirical
studies that use reliable data and rigorous analytical methods, employing
original field work and/or secondary data. Research outputs are expected to
result in papers appropriate for publication.
