Minutes of 1st Skype meeting of Education and Capacity Building working group (E and C) on Sep 9th 2012, 4 pm GMT)
Participants: Melina (Japan and Brazil), Megan ( Japan and Canada) and Sabuj (India)
Facilitator: Sabuj
The Minutes of earlier meeting held during GYBN kick off conference in Berlin were discussed. Here are the details:
1. 1.The Google group and email address for E and C working group is already done( Sabuj).
2. 2.Sabuj will be the facilitator till COP11 and will also send a doodle poll to arrange next Skype meeting before 25th September/COP11.
3. 3.The E and C group will start translating the GYBN position paper and GYBN statute once the GYBN will receive all the online comments and finalize the drafts. Till now these are the following language in which translation will be done, Spanish (by Mirna), Hindi and Bengali (by Sabuj), Tamil (by Sudarsha), Portuguese (by Melina). GYBN, E and C working group still need volunteer to translate GYBN position paper and statute in French, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese and Russian. The facilitator will send email over the GYBN network to find out volunteer for translation once the GYBN position paper and statute is officially adopted.
4. 4.Melina will design an information fact sheet and circulate among the working group to gather basic scientific information related to various COP11 related issues for common citizen and activists.
5. 5 Melina will design an online questionnaire survey to find out what their needs are related to biodiversity education & capacity building and send that to E and C working group for preliminary comments and once finalized, then it will be circulated among GYBN network.
6. 6. The facilitator (Sabuj) will send an email to Mirna to know provide more in depth information about her idea to make a world map to indicate were local trainings/seminars for youth will take place ( Country specific).
7. 7. Sabuj will design a Google document where he will gather information about fellowships, educational courses and their online links and send to the E and C for comments on format as well as participation to fill it up.
8. 8.Melina will ask Christian & Jean Paul if they would like to organize a webinar for all GYBN members that will participate in COP11 (for preparation) during next GYBN steering committee meeting.
