Hi,

many developers would like to see GWTEventService working on App
Engine. The first try failed caused by a lot of limitations of App
Engine, but we want to give it a try again. I combined that
requirement with two private interesting projects to gain experiences
with GAE (App Engine). I have written down the experiences for
reflecting purposes and to let others benefit from my experiences.

Maybe there are some other GAE experienced developers which want to
help or resume the integrating of the GAE support for GWTEventService.
I'm looking forward to meet other developers which are interested in
that topic. Please answer to that topic or send me a mail
(sven.str...@googlemail.com).

Here you can read my GAE experiences which I gained in two private
projects: http://gwteventservice.freeforums.org/webchannelos-experiences-with-app-engine-t56.html

Thanks in advance.

Regards,

Sven S.

Hey

Did you look into the Channel API?

Hi,

that could be a possible idea. The Channel API could be used internal
at the server side when GWTEventService is configured for App Engine.
It isn't necessary to change the API of GWTEventService and no changes
are required for the client side of GWTEventService. At the server
side GWTEventService is used as a layer between the clients and the
Channel API to provide the features of GWTEventService like event
filtering. The Channel API could be simply integrated via a
ConnectionStrategy (already introduced with GWTEventService 1.2 to
support Streaming).

The advantage of this idea is that the Channel API is directly
designed for App Engine and the integration in GWTEventService could
be simple. That must be evaluated.

Thanks for your reply.

Regards,

Sven S.
