Steering Committee meeting

Hey guys,

  I would like to do one last pre-Google I/O steering committee meeting Wednesday morning for whoever is available. If not, you can comment asynchronously in mail or docs. The primary objective is to ratify and solidify the timeline/milestones of the future roadmap. I have edited the document recently and added numbers like 2.6 or 3.0+ to various items. If certain items are very important to you and you'd like to see them sooner, it's something we should discuss. 

  Invariably at Google I/O, there are going to be questions of "when", and I'd like to definitely say, yes, this feature will be available in GWT 2.6 which is targeted for Quarter XX'YY, and these are GWT 3.0 which will arrive in Quarter ZZ^WW.

For marketing, I think Bhaskar would be the best person to talk to about that, Bhaskar and Daniel are working on the new site.

Ip and branding questions are important. The proposal for the agenda is in the minutes of the last meeting. While discussing the roadmap is more interesting, we must not avoid deciding on ip and branding questions as well in the committee.

I guess I'm confused here - weren't you going to schedule something specific to cover the ip/marketing/branding issues about two weeks after the last meeting? That way those who had particular interest could attend, discuss what their own organizations had come up with, and then share it on the main list after that detailed call? Additionally, a distinct call for that topic would enable organizations to invite others that might have specific details that need to be covered. But the main reason I had understood was that you felt that this was important enough to not wait and be one of several topics at the next monthly meeting.

I suggest we discuss ip branding etc in person at the meet-up. We can start discussing it on Wednesday if time permits, but we should nail down the roadmap items to the point where we can tie them future releases (at least for all high priority items), so Ray can finalize his presentation this week.

We agreed that the next committee meeting should focus on ip/brand. That would be a normal committee meeting, so ray should summon it. 

After the fundamental issues are decided we may form workgroups outside committee to work on specific items. One such example would be website.

Live meeting is better than just a online meeting. That said - we definitely need to have time set for the meeting so that  committee members can participate in the decisions. 

While some of the items in the agenda are rather obvious, it is important that the committee decides upon them and we document the decisions for the community. That way ip/brand ownership is not left in vague state for GWT. 

So lets do this as already decided, as an official committee meeting. Preferably live. In any case, we need Ray to set the time and post the agenda.

If you want, we can also discuss the ip/branding issues Wednesday. The roadmap part should not take long, I am mostly looking for agreement on the milestones, what goes in 2.6 as opposed to what is deferred until 3.0. This can be a relatively quick discussion unless there are significant objections.
