latest GWT with Maven2? possible?

I'm trying to get my first GWT app to work but there does not seem to be
any documentation anywhere that when followed, leads to being able to
use GWT with maven.

if anyone can provide some assistance on providing a basic pom.xml that
works to download the latest version of GWT (1.7.1) I believe, I will do
a great writeup and post it on the web.

I can't find a reference to the 1.7.1 jars anywhere in any public maven
repo.

GWT 1.7.1 is available, but unfortunately only for Windows - JARs are
missing for Linux and Mac.

This plugin is deprecated. Check out
http://mojo.codehaus.org/gwt-maven-plugin/ which incorporated this
code and is functionally complete with it.
