onMessage not called in ie8 and chrome

I used gwt-comet 1.2.3 and gwt 2.4.

My app works fine in firefox 5. However, it doesn't work on IE 8 or
chrome. (eclipse developer mode).
I tried to debug it, it seems that onMessage is never called when I
use IE 8 or chrome. There's no exceptions.

I originally tired it on IE 9 and run into exception and I know
someone already provided a work around.

I wonder if anyone know is there any thing that need to implement
specially for IE 8 and chrome.

update:
I found that if I put both of the comet servlet and the webapp in
localhost, it works on ie 8.
However, if I use IP address, 127.0.0.1. It doesn't.

anyboby knows why?
