I am not sure what has happened to the group owner Richard Zschech, he
has created and supported this project very well in the past, but he
has not posted on this list since Sep 11 2011. Some time ago I have
forked this project which has become the atmosphere-gwt module. Some
of the issues I have seen here like for instance issues with IE9 and
proper async support in Glassfish and Tomcat as well as WebSockets
have been addressed. It has not been my intention to try and pull
people away from here to the forked project, since the fork was merely
a necessity for our product. Now that the list has gone quite here, I
felt the need to let the community know about the continued work on
the atmosphere-gwt project.

Hi Pierre,

Thanks for your kind words.

Unfortunately I've not had the time to work on gwt-comet of late. The
company I was working on gwt-comet for made me redundant mid last
year, and I've had a child late last year.

There is a possibility that I'll pick up some similar work to my
previous company in the near future which should enable me to invest
more time in gwt-coment.

The beauty of open source is that people can change code to meet their
needs and sometimes a bit of competition results better software being
produced. So long appropriate credit is given and copyright notices
are maintained we should all be happy with pooling our resources to
create a better outcome for everyone.

Thanks Pierre, would you happen to have a migration guide from gwt-
comet (using glassfish) to gwt-atmosphere?

Hi Richard,

Congratulations with the birth of your child! I know what that is like, we have three young children, so the work I have done on the comet client was mainly during my working hours on the job. I hope that all will be well for you and your young family.
It is indeed a good thing to have open source, the product I am working on wouldn't even exist without open source, so that is why I felt it was important to keep the work I have done concerning the GWT comet in the open. I am happy about that because now more people are able to use it and not just our company and it surely would not have existed without your effort on gwt-comet as a basis. I think you designed the code well. Your original copyright information has been left intact in the source files.

I don't have a migration guide. If you are interested in the project then a good place to start is either the gwt-demo or gwt-chat sample :  https://github.com/Atmosphere/atmosphere/wiki/Getting-Started-with-the-samples
