I hope your student has a great experience at GW this year, and look forward to working with all of you to make this the best year we can for all students, faculty and administrators. Watch this space every week for ways you can help. Right now we are looking for people who love books:
1. Organize the Barnes & Noble book fair - a turn key event that raises money for the school and highlights our students the evening December 12. This is done on your own time.
2. Maintain the book room at GW - instructions provided for a parent who can stop by periodically during the day to keep books readily available for teachers and students.

HAVE YOU BOUGHT YOUR TICKETS FOR THE CURIOUS GRAPE WINE TASTING YET?
This year we are trying a new, fun way to raise money for our PTA. The parents get to eat and drink, and the PTA gets the money! I October may seem like a long way off, but you need to buy your tickets to this fun event before it sells out! It’s a wine tasting at the Curious Grape in Shirlington. Tickets are $50 per person with $20 going right to our PTA. Please see the dates and sign up links below. We have a different day for each of the grade levels.

A huge THANK YOU to all of the parents and staff who helped out with the 6th Grade Open House. The social was a fun time thanks to the many parents who stepped forward to assist. We really appreciate the 7th and 8th grade students who served as guides for this event.
JOIN US AT ART ON THE AVENUE
GWMS is hosting a children’s activity at Art on the Avenue on Saturday, October 4th. We will need approximately 30 volunteers in 2-hour shifts throughout the day (2 adults and 3 students per shift). TC WILLIAMS CREW OPEN HOUSE/ORIENTATION Saturday September 6, 10AM at the boathouse (1 Madison Street in Old Town, Alexandria) for anyone who would like a tour or to meet the coaches. This is not for the purpose of registering as all rowers are by now already signed up for Fall Crew and besides, our registration is now online! The Fall Crew program officially begins on Monday Sep 8. The program is full but there is a wait list. For any questions or to be placed on the wait list, please contact Novice Liaison, Sarah Conrad at sbcon...@gmail.com. We hope to see you there!
PTA DIRECTORY DEADLINE IS TUESDAY, 9/16
Don't forget to mail/send in your form(s) included in the first day packet to your child's homeroom teacher or to complete online here - your family will not be included if we don't have the information by 9/16. Fill out a separate form for each child at GW - you will be offered the chance to fill out another online when you finish the first form. If your child lives in two households and you would like to include both, please fill out a separate form for each. Please print/type carefully - we will use exactly what you submit! Thank you to all who have already sent in the info!
