GWD Chrome preview not working

Hi there,

I'm having some problems with preview my projects in Chrome.  The Firefox and Safari previews are fine but i can't really do without also previewing in Chrome, a quick work around i'm currently using is to preview in Firefox and then pastes generated URL into Chrome, this works but obviously is not ideal.  Any help would be much appreciated!

Hi DeDae,

Can you tell me more about the problem?

Do you see Chrome in the browser list when you click on the small arrow button next to the Preview button?

Or do you see a blank preview when you choose to preview in Chrome but the preview is fine in other browsers like Firefox or Safari?

Yes, its more a case of the latter.  I get a blank Chrome window thats pops up when i try to preview, Chrome is in the list of browsers and on choosing Chrome there is an ‘action’ that takes place but it doesn’t trigger the preview.  Firefox and Safari are both previewing without a problem, i can take the preview URL generated by Firefox or Safari and paste it into Chrome but as you can imagine this isn’t doing wonders for my workflow and i’ve previously been able to preview without any problems.

I have the same problem; as suggested elsewhere I deleted the caches and restarted my computer. It doesn't work with Chrome or Edge (Windows 10) works with Firefox.
Note: I can't risk putting an add that works in such a limited environment.

Hi there,

Wow, this one is going back a bit so its hard to remember the exact solution to be honest.  What i do know is that a comprehensive removal and reinstall of GWD was a minimum requirement.  Maybe use a deep uninstaller like Dr. Cleaner to assist you.  I haven't actually encountered this issue again, and i use GWD more or less daily, i'm running the latest version of GWD and have no previewing issues.

Sorry i couldn't be more helpful, hope you find a solution.

Ordinary readers won't go to the trouble of cleaning. What I wanted - picture, text, tap area works perfectly with Firefox so it's the .html code that is not adapted to the other browsers - Edge IE, Chrome.

navytopaz, is the problem you are having with Preview from Google Web Designer only or does it happen also when you try opening the html file created in Google Web Designer directly in the browser?

The problem I’m getting is both with the preview from GWD and opening it directly from Chrome (Edge and IE) that result in a blank page.
As a programmer, I believe that the generated code doesn’t take into account the particularities of the different browsers. As I said, it works perfectly with Firefox.
Note that there are many other errors, such as the Zoom that zooms in by large increments, but can't zoom out, no preference menu item such as ruler units...

Hi Ray, 

The preview issue sounds like you might have ad blocker installed on those browser.  Can you please check?  You can also try opening the dev tool console to see if there's any error. 

We are working on the architecture for a Preferences dialog which will allow ruler units to be changed.  I will file a feature request to be able to change ruler units.

For the Zoom issue, did you use the Zoom tool in the Tools panel or the keyboard shortcuts to zoom?  If you use the Zoom tool to zoom, can you try clicking on the Zoom tool icon in the Tools panel to reset the zoom to see if it works for you?

Hi San,

I did have AdBlockers on. I switched them off in Chrome and still it didn't work; not that I have other apps such as grammar and Avast virus checker.

Re Zoom: The tool zooms in by large increments and not out. The z key doesn<t seem to work at all!

Hi Ray,

Can you please try to see what error you see in the console when the ad doesn't preview?  It's likely that the ad is still blocked and console will tell more.  In Chrome when you have the ad open, right click and select Inspect, then click on the Console tab.

For zoom, have you try double click on the Zoom tool icon in the toolbar to see if it resets the zoom to 100%?

Hi,
I got it to work in Chrome by disabling the ad blockers; however I had to reset Chrome by closing a tab and reopening it. In IE only the text appeared at first with a message asking if I wanted to display the ad that was blocked and when I did, the image appeared and it was functional. I didn't get it to work with Edge.
Regarding the zoom I notices that when I clicked it, 2 magnifying glass icons appeared (that are not intuitive) and I was able to zoom in and out. However when I used the mouse wheel to zoom in and out, it also displaced the ad.

Finally, Spybot Antibeacon caused this problem. It is a little program that blocks Microsoft's spying on Windows 10. I guess it blocked some connection and it couldn't work properly.

Hi.

Would you be able to help me out here please? Preview project works fine on chrome but only there, I wonder if it's possible to rectify? I implemented into special software for android large devices and it has lags, some text is much bigger than in GWD. Same as I try to preview in different browsers like edge, firefox, etc.

Can you please clarify the problem that you are having? Do you see the text appears bigger in Edge and Firefox browser with the lag or do you see blank page when preview in these browser?  Can you please provide us with more info such as screenshot if the text appear bigger?  And what special software for Android large device did you use?

Hi, I've been looking closer and there is no adblock set on edge, and different browsers. It still works fine on chrome but doesn't work good on others.

   I had the similar problem.  Please remove the Adblocker if you have with Chrome and try.  It just worked fine for me.

Pausing my ad blocker in chrome solved my problem. Ad blocker in chrome was treating my gwd file preview as an ad.
