Hello colleagues,

i cannot upload layouts for dynamic ads. Even when I upload templates from GWD without editing them. I get this error message everytime: "The uploaded ZIP file is not supported. Please upload ads that are not linked to a feed." Any experience with this?

Hi Kent we are experiencing the same problem and I am concerned it has something to do with changes to Googles HTML Dynamic Ad policy which I am finding very difficult to obtain any clarity. I have campaigns running that I am not sure will be able to keep running and I also have campaigns we are pitching for and setting up but have no idea if we can fulfill our commitments. Can you provide any information please

Hi, we are experiencing the same thing. We've tested with ads that has been working before as well as with different clients and different campaign. Still no luck.

This is fixed now. You can upload dynamic ads to "previous" Adwords. If you are in the new (Beta) Adwords, click the wrench icon in the top menu bar and choose "Return to previous Adwords".

You can try the new AdWords now but you will need to add the following tags in the published file, just add it right before the closing tag of head.
<meta name="productType" content="dynamic"><meta name="vertical" content="RETAIL">

Replace RETAIL with your vertical such as TRAVEL or HOTELS, etc. You also need to make sure the campaign is set up properly to enable dynamic with the correct vertical selected and the feed uploaded to the campaign before the upload can be successful.

We will let you know when Google Web Designer will include these tags by default in the published files.

Thanks,

Hi San,

Is it true that banners created in GWD do not work with "Retail" vertical through the connected Google Shopping account? Should I re-create and upload the feed manually?

Thanks,
Illia

Hi Illia,

That workflow hasn't been changed and will not be changed in the new AdWords. Retail vertical still requires the AdWords account to be linked to Google Merchant Center in your retail campaign. For all other business types or verticals such as TRAVEL, the feed needs to be set in the campaign prior to uploading the ad.

If you still use the old AdWords UI, it should work as before.
If you would like to try out the new AdWords UI, you will need to add the dynamic meta tag manually in the published file before uploading it to the new AdWords.

San,

The problem is that I have it linked and I have a live dynamic remarketing campaign. Previously banners were created inside the Ad Gallery, but now we decide to try GWD.
But any time a try to load my new banners, I get an error - this function is unavailable (both UI with the necessary changes like tap area and meta tags inside the banners depends in which UI I tried to upload them).
I contacted Adwords support team and they say that GWD banners will not work with Retail vertical.

Just want to understand is it true or not.

Btw these banners successfully passed html5 verification tool.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Illia,

Did you try uploading it in the old AdWords UI or the new one? The published zip from Google Web Designer should work in the old AdWords UI.

Can you please share your file with us so we can try uploading it to AdWords? Google Web Designer banners should work with Retail vertical as before.

Please open the file in Google Web Designer, select File > Save as zip...and share url to download the zip file with us at gwd-s...@google.com.

Hi San,

We are having the same issue with both interfaces, OLD & NEW, we are using 4 different templates from GWD -both edited and not edited before uploading.

1) We are still getting the same message when using the mentioned tags for the NEW interface, I mean:

<meta name="productType" content="dynamic">
<meta name="vertical" content="RETAIL">

The message is: "The uploaded ZIP file is not supported. Please upload ads that are not linked to a feed."

2) Using the OLD interface the form is not showing the option for retailer feed like shown in the attached file... so the HTML5 is not able to be loaded when uploaded.

Can you please help us?

Thanks!

For retail, you need to link your Google Merchant Center account with your AdWords account (click here to learn more). This requirement is the same in both new and old AdWords UI.

The new AdWords is more strict that the campaign must be set up properly with the feed before you can upload the creative. In this case for retail, the campaign must be associated with the retail feed after your AdWords account is linked with the Merchant Center account. The dynamic meta tags should be in the published file because it should work in both the new and old AdWords now.

Hope it helps.

You should contact the Adwords user forum for info about uploading Animate files. This forum is for users of Google Web Designer.

To better assist you, please let us know if your ads are dynamic or static. Did you use the new AdWords UI or the new one?

Thanks,
