How to insert a resizeable image

Even though the fluid layout box has been checked, inserting a jpg/png/bmp image from the assets library does not allow it to be resized when using the viewport resizing tool.

Is there a way to achieve that goal?

The solution is easy: in the properties panel, the width & height must be expressed as % instead of a number of pixels.
