After installing .rpm with yum, I tried to start from a command prompt, got an error message:

google-webdesigner: error while loading shared libraries: libXtst.so.6: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

Searching shows similar error messages with google earth, seems to be multiarch problems, with 32 bit libs needed on 64 bit systems.

Suggestions ?

Hi Hervert,

I downloaded the installer, 64bit .rpm, and installed it with yum on Fedora 20 64bit.
Then launched google-webdesigner from the terminal and started fine, although there was a message.
[ume@localhost ~]$ google-webdesigner
which: no opera in (/usr/lib64/qt-3.3/bin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/bin:/bin:/usr/local/sbin:/usr/sbin:/home/ume/.local/bin:/home/ume/bin)
ATTENTION: default value of option force_s3tc_enable overridden by environment.

I also checked libXtst. My Fedora is pretty much vanilla (for testing) and I just applied yum update to the clean installed system.
[ume@localhost ~]$ sudo updatedb
[sudo] password for ume:
[ume@localhost ~]$ locate libXtst
/usr/lib64/libXtst.so.6
/usr/lib64/libXtst.so.6.1.0
/usr/share/doc/libXtst
/usr/share/doc/libXtst/COPYING

I'm wondering if you can try installing libXtst?

Thanks,

Ume

libXtst is already installed. Follows shell output:

[hcmeyer@s3samsung ~]$ locate libXtst
/usr/lib64/libXtst.so.6
/usr/lib64/libXtst.so.6.1.0
/usr/share/doc/libXtst
/usr/share/doc/libXtst/COPYING
[hcmeyer@s3samsung ~]$ google-webdesigner
google-webdesigner: error while loading shared libraries: libXtst.so.6: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
[hcmeyer@s3samsung ~]$

How do I inform google-webdesigner of the location of this library ?

after scratching my chin for a while, I checked to see if /usr/lib64 was on the PATH, it was not, a couple of its subdirs were.

I will either continue scratching my chin or shave, and then come up with a good script to put in /etc/profile.d or just tinker with .profile.rc to add /usr/lib64 to PATH.

Excuse me for being a fool. I downloaded an update this morning, and discovered I had previously installed a 686 version rather than x64. Removing the 686, and installing the x64, it works without serious errors.

Hi Carl,

I'm glad the problem was solved. Actually it's good to know we can tell this if someone has the same issue.

Thank you for using Google Web Designer.
