I'm trying to pause a youtube linked video in my ad. I want to pause it after a set specific amount of time as to not reach the end or a certain point. How would I achieve this? I keep trying to create events to stop my video after a certain point, but it's not working.

Currently I have a only one page, page1, targeting event-2, with action YouTube pause and choosing gwd-youtube_1 as my receiver. There's only one youtube video. And lastly there's no configuration specified. Shouldnt this normally work?

Hi Plum,

You can pause the Youtube video at First quartile, Midpoint, Third quartile.
For example, you can add the following event in the Event panel and the Youtube video will pause at third quartile:

gwd-youtube_1 (target) > Youtube Third quartile (event) > Pause (action) > gwd-youtube-1

Hope it helps,

Rika

Hey Rika,

I realized I have done this before. Normally, the steps you just outlined work. However I have event and animation that loops forever which seems to be the reason why I can't target and properly pause the video at a specific point. I have a looping series of images fading out to simulate an animated gif like effect. There's an even animation with page1>event>GotoAndPlay>Page1. That event currently repeats according to a start and end label I have created on the timeline. Is there a way to correctly have two events, one that loops infinitely from one set of labeled points and one that happens linearly at a certain point with the pausing I am trying to impose on the video?

Sorry but it is hard to understand the situation just by reading the post.
If you want to play the looping animation when the video is paused, the simple way is to add the second page with the animation
and add the event to the video so that it will jump to the second page when the video is paused.
If this is not the case, please feel free to attach the source file (non published one) to this post, and we can take a look.
Also, please let us know the detailed steps so that we understand what you are trying to achieve.

Thanks,
Rika

Hey Rika,

So basically, I want to have two events. One event is running from the beginning and continues infinitely. It is a series of images fading out to reveal the next and continues on forever. That is one event that is currently running.

For that first event, I have two labels, one called 'startAnimation' and at the end of the animation, I created an end label, 'endAnimation.' It is at the end of this sequence that I have an event running that runs it again infinitely.

At the same time, i have a youtube video playing next to this. I want an event on that video that has it pause after X amount of seconds have elapsed. I'm currently having trouble with this event. I have attached a zip file with the unpublished version of the document. I hope it makes sense what I am trying to do.

Hi Plum,

You need the Youtube custom event to do this.  Please see the updated file in the attachment.

Thanks,
Rika

Hey Rika,

Thanks a lot for this. This is exactly what I needed. Can you explain what was done in the updated file different from what I had?

Sure thing.  I think you added the VideoPause timeline event, but what you really need is the YouTube event to pause the video
(btw, you can delete those VideoPause events from the Events panel).
I added gwd-youtube_1 > YouTube Started > Custom gwd.pauseVideo > Custom code
It is set to pause at 5000ms but you can change the number to any number you want.

Thanks for using the Google Web Designer,

Hey Rika,

That made total sense and works. However, now I'm running into a different problem, which is unusual. I am trying to animate in elements to cover the youtube component, simple opacity keyframe animation. However, I am attempting this and it does not work 50 seconds out in the GWD timeline. Do you know why this would be?
