Google Webdesigner: Unknown Insterller Error

i downloaded a file that is less than 1mb from https://www.google.com/webdesigner
but when i try to install, all i get is a message that says unknown installer error. will appreciate any help

Hi ,

Can you please let us know  your OS .  

 If you are installing  this on Windows please see a  similar post  here  .   In Mac the GWD Downloaded  file-size should be more than 1 MB  approx 26.5MB file .

am installing on windows and i figured a way around the problem, somehow. initially i was downloading with Firefox. surprisingly it only worked when i downloaded with Google chrome

I'm having a similar problem trying to install on Windows 8.

A day or two ago I installed it but launching the app only displays a blank window that never loads any interface. Today I download the installer again and try to re-install but I get an "Unknown Error" that has a help link going to a blank web page at this link: https://support.google.com/installer/answer/support.google.com/installer/contact/unknown_error?rd=2

This blankness problem seems to be a growing theme...
