I developed some banners a few months back where I have an image that starts off small and off to the right side of the canvas and then the image gets larger and becomes positioned closer to the center of the stage to make it appear to be getting closer to the screen. I am attempting to recreate this effect in GWD since my client would like to use HTML5 banners now but I am unable to get the animation to happen smoothly.

The animation is very choppy and the image bounces around and appears to stretch and shrink throughout the animation. Is there any way to smooth out this animation?

I used the selection tool + transform control to set the end dimensions/positioning of the image.

We've seen similar issues and had to use "transform: scale...", "transform: translate...", and "transform: rotate..." instead of timeline animated left/top/width/height/rotation.

Hi jmcmorri,

I'm sorry that you're running into this issue.  We are making changes to Google Web Designer to address this issue.  In the next release (coming soon), translate and scale will be used instead of top left width height.

Please check out our new version 1.5.0.  You can now create smooth animation for both position and scale.  Please note that you will need to recreate the animation because the old files will remain as is.

Thanks,
