Hi There,

I have a client who are looking to use the map component to show the closest showroom addresses to a viewer's location. So lets say a viewer views the ad in New Jersey, the map component would show locations only in New Jersey.

Is this possible to do?

Thanks!

Hi Jawad,

You can set that option in GWD properties panel  . When  a user Click on  use GPS location or enter enter zip code  in the Ad then Map component  will show the search result for that particular location .

For more details Please see help Link for Map component .

Thanks

I'm also looking to do dynamic update, but by address rather than GPS or ZIP. The ad is for real estate, so I'm trying to pass in the address of the property as a query, but I always end up with the map on max zoom out, trying to pin stuff in the state (New York in this case), but not centering in on the property. I've tried reducing/increasing the search radius, setting max results to 1, and max zoom-in, but none seem to work. Is the map component able to take values like this without ZIP or GPS, and is using the query the right way? (I dont have lat ad long data for these properties unfortunately). I can't edit Google map embeds dynamically either due to SO policy :( Any help on this would be great.

Hi Matt,

Unfortunately, the maps component needs either lat/lng or GPS to set up the initial viewport. Then, the query term is used to find places near that viewport using Google Maps places API:

To obtain Lat/Lng from an address, you can try searching on Google Maps or use Google Maps' Geocode API:
We currently do not have plan to add support for geocoding in the maps component.

Another way to surface listings is to choose some initial viewport and then load them from fusion table:

Thanks!

I am looking over the Fusion Table documentation and the docs for the Map component but for the life of me cannot get the two to work with one another?

Is it required that i have a Google API key and Map Premier account to use this functionality? I am a complete NON coder so API's and the like are a bit confusing for me.

There is no real Step by Step guide for newbies to build out the map component using fusion tables and I would be happy to write one up if provided with the right direction for completing this linkage tot he Fusion table.

I have gotten as far as
1.adding Fusion Tables to Google drive
2.creating my map with custom popups and the like for the pins in fusion.
3. Copy Numeric ID of Table from URL and paste into GWD's Map component in the Fusion ID section.

From here I don't know what to do as it doesn't seem to effect the map at all when I test locally.

Feel like I am missing something crucial. (I have no Google API Key, nor am I a Maps Premier user)

Any help would be appreciated and I will build a "For Dummies Guide" If I ever figure it out.

Thanks in Advance guys!
-Jeff

As a side note when i do this i do get the error popping up on the map "Your location could not be determined. Please enter a valid address." when I remove the Fusion ID that goes away but of course none of my data form the fusion sheet is included.
