Feature request: Linux version of Google Web Designer

Hi!

Looking at the free software attribution page in the help center - https://support.google.com/webdesigner/answer/3413931?hl=en - its not clear how ChromeFrame is being handled.

If GWD used Node-Webkit, it would be cross platform, plus have native Mac menu bar integration, like LightTable.

If it is released for linux, a tarball in addition to a .deb and/or a .rpm would be awesome. It just makes life a little easier for those of us not on redhat/debian derivatives.

somebody hear this guy's thoughts!! well said. But, there should be a linux version underway. Because webdesigners mostly aren't coders and they stick to what they know the best, the windows and mac. Please bring it to linux so that you can make coders as designers!!

There was a comment from the Chrome team that when this project started, Chrome Apps couldn't do everything that this app required. With the latest updates, Chrome Apps can do what is needed. They said that they would be talking to the GWD team about making a version that will run on ChromeOS.

I'm personally very excited about that, but as a fallback I'd be OK with a version that runs on Linux. I did notice that one of the help pages mentions Linux, so I'm guessing that there is an internal Linux version that is not yet ready for announcement/beta. Hopefully soon...

i think you can in fact get the source for GWD (staff help on a link here??) so there is no reason you could not take a swing at sorting out a linux version.
