I've been using GWD since the initial beta and have never run into this issue before.

Every time I create a new file and import images they show up as transparent boxes with a grey 1px stroke.

Looking in the asset library the items are in there but they say "no preview available." It is also saying "the selected image is too large to preview" or "one or more of the dropped images is too large to render. please consider using smaller images" up top but my images are like 300x250 or smaller.

Any clue what is going on? I've tried deleting the program and reinstalling with no resolution.

Running on Yosemite 10.10.3
Chrome version: 44.0.2403.89

Thank You,
Matt

Hi, thank you for reporting the issue.

Could you possibly specify your situation when the issue happened?
Were you offline?
Was GWD running for a while with the doc open, how long?
Did your machine go to sleep before the issue happened?
Any information will be appreciated.

To workaround the issue, please save the document, close GWD, clear the GWD cache folder and re-launch. That should fix that issue.

  • Windows: HD:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Google\Google Web Designer\data\cache(note: you need to enable “Show hidden files, folders, and drives” in Folder options View tab)
  • Linux: ~/.local/share/google-web-designer/data/cache
  • Mac: /Users/<username>/Library/Application Support/Google/Web Designer/data/cache
Thanks
Mariko (GWD team)

Hi,

Can you try to "show hidden files" on Mac? You can then relaunch the finder and you should see the files. If not, please let us know and we'll investigate further!

thx

I'm having this same issue on El captain OSX 10.10,

I have tried File > Importing Assets, Dragging Images into the app, dragging from local files within app and uploading as assets within DoubleClick Studio. All result in same error, "One or more of the dropped images is too large to render. please consider using smaller images."

I tried importing a .svg, .jpeg and .png no difference between file types. When images are imported a div with white stroke appears, has no properties or id.

One temp solution I am trying to refine is adding an image via the 'code view' using the url from DoubleClicks assets library. Code as below (edited)

<img class="fbxfvb gwd-img-ijsm" source="https://s0.2mdn.net/ads/richmedia/studio/******/468-5.jpg" id="bg5" width="468px" height="60px" is="gwd-image" style="">

Problem being these images are not easily editable, changing the top, left properties takes no effect, dragging images change the 3D orientation and is inaccurate.

No screenshots attached as 'attach file' button unresponsive.

Can not find the cache after showing hidden files, Google folder does not exist in Application Support.

Any update on this would be greatly appreciated,

Thank you,

Adam Jacques.

It sounds like a cache file issue if the image you use is not bigger than 4MB.  GWD does not allow you to use an image bigger than 4MB.  Please follow this instruction to remove the cache folder:

Quit Google Web Designer if it's running
1. Select Finder
2. In the menu, click on Go and hold down the option key (alt) to show 'Library'
3. Select Library
4. In Finder, select Application Support > Google > Web Designer > data
5. Delete the cache folder.
Launch Google Web Designer and try again.  Please let us know if you can still reproduce this issue after deleting the cache.

Thank you.

Hi

I'm a windows user and have the same problem.
I delete all the stuff in the cache folder

Windows: HD:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Google\Google Web Designer\data\cache

and the problem still stay with me.

I also try uninstall the software-> restart PC -> reinstall GWD.

But the problem is still there.

Any Idea?

I am having the same issue. Images of 20k and less are not able to render or preview or display in GWD. This problem has only started in past few days, all was fine before that. I threw away cache folder as suggested, but the problem still remains. Is there a way to fix this as GWD is not usable now. I'm about to take the GWD cert but now I can't :(

Also, if you are using Mac OS then make sure your folder dosent have a character that confuses GWD - eg I had a '+' sign in my root folder.. Took me ages to work that out!!
