I am making some videobanners and suddenly noticed that the audio is not muted in Internet Explorer, even if I turn "Mute" on in the properties panel. I am quite sure this worked before.
I am using GWD version 1.7.0.1114 and I am testing on desktop on Internet Explorer, Opera, Chrome and Firefox.

These settings have worked for me before:
Autoplay: Standard
Mute: On
Browser reaction:
Chrome: audio muted, video playing
Firefox: audio muted, video playing
Opera: audio muted, video playing
Internet Explorer: audio NOT muted, video playing (a no-no with audio not muted in a videobanner)

I also tried this:
Autoplay: Preview
Mute: On
Browser reactions:
Chrome: audio muted, video playing
Firefox: audio muted, video playing
Opera: audio muted, video playing
Internet Explorer: audio NOT muted, video playing and pressing the video does nothing. No controlls appear (even if set to autohide). In the other browsers the video starts to play from the first frame without the play symbol after the videopreview has been clicked and controls appear where they should).

Is this a bug? How do I get the video to mute in Internet Explorer as well (testing in IE 11)?
I have tried to make this work on two different computers now but with the same result.

Hi SB,

Sorry about the issue.  It looks like there is a bug with IE.
I will log the bug on your behalf and we will look into the issue.

Thanks,

Hi Rika,

I uploaded the file to Studio yesterday after posting here, and previewed it there this morning (about 11 hours ago).
The audio actually seems to mute when previewing in IE in Studio, but the audio starts up briefly first, so sometimes I hear just a second of sound in Internet Explorer and then it mutes.
In the other browsers it has worked as intended.

Ps. When previewing locally on the desktop though the audio is still not muted in IE.

Thanks for reporting the update!  I also verified that mute works on IE in Studio.
If it works in Studio, it is a problem between YouTube iframe and the browser.
Studio has the latest support for YouTube so your ad will be fine.

Hello,
I can see the mute icon is always displayed on firefox even though the audio is not muted, I am on firefox 5.0.1.0. Is that a bug or a feature ?

Hi kopetepanda,

The mute icon is the speaker icon with a slash on it.  If it is not muted, it shows the speaker icon.
You can toggle mute and unmute by clicking the icon.  It works fine on Firefox 50.0.2.
Please update the browser to the latest version.
